I know I have talked about Nalleli in a previous post, but here is a refresher. She is the daughter of Maira, who is the assistant at the preschool in Mata Gorda. Nalleli is 10 years old and goes to Doulos, an English emersion school here in Jarabacoa. She is also best friends with Pricila, our niece. Her mom asked me if she could come to my house once a week to practice English since she is struggling a little bit at school. So last week she came over with Pricila and we had a grand time! After doing homework, practicing English, painting nails, etc, we had lots of fun making pizza together and then watching "The Princess Bride".
I love Nalleli and refer to her as "mi hija potiza" (my artificial daughter) and she often slips up and starts calling me "tia" (aunt) when Pricila is around.
Please pray with me for Nalleli, that the time we spend together will be beneficial for her and that she will improve at school as well.

First group of the Year!
We have the pleasure of hosting the Joshua Group from Hume Lake (a place near and dear to my heart) for two weeks here in SIDR. They are a great group of young people and I am really enjoying having them at the school helping me out in my classroom.

Mata Gorda Christmas Party
This year we had a wonderful Christmas party again at the Mata Gorda Preschool. The kids performed two songs for their parents, received gifts and had refreshments. It was a great night and all the parents and kids really enjoyed themselves. Here is a video clip of the kids performing one of the songs, "Mi Burrito Sabanero" a typical Dominican Christmas song.

Family
This past week at church, Cristian's sister's husband, Francisco, was named as one of the Associate Pastors. It was a proud moment for Cristian and I as they move into this important position of ministry at our church. The picture is of our head pastor, Popin, and Franciso and the family.
Christmas time in Mata Gorda
Here are some pictures of the kids in my class and some of the Christmas crafts that we have made in the last few weeks!
