Field Trip

During the last weeks of school we took the kids on a field trip to a butterfly farm. They were so excited as we had been reading books about how caterpillars turn into butterflies.

First, they got to take a look at some fish in a lake.

They then went out to watch the butterflies lay eggs on lemon tree leaves. The kids collected many eggs and baby caterpillars.

We then went to the butterfly sanctuary where they raise the caterpillars and protect the cocoons.

I even got to take home a few caterpillars and we got to watch them make their cocoons and hatch into butterflies in my classroom! It was such a fun learning experience for the children and adults alike!
